ANSWERS
Can I book in an extra bag?
Some of the most common questions from passengers are about baggage.
Many wonder if, for example, you can book in more bags, after having
booked the journey itself.
For the most recent
and relevant information, please go to each airlines own website:
www.ryanair.com
www.wizzair.com
How do I contact Ryanair?
You can phone the airline’s customer services on +46(0)900 20 20
240. This is a chargeable call that costs SEK 4 per minute and they
speak English. Many answers are available on Ryanair's homepage
www.ryanair.se; click on “travel questions”.
Are there domestic flights from the airport?
Today is a
year-round service to Visby with Gotlandsflyg.
The flight goes three days a week, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
I collect pens, tags, postcards and other things
from airports. Can you send me anything?
We
get questions like this almost every day and unfortunately we are
unable to answer every one. The airport has very little gift
advertising and there is no point in sending mail requesting such
items.
What can I take in my hand baggage?
New rules apply as from 6 November 2006.

What is the latest check-in time at the airport?
The airlines recommend two hours before. The check-in desk closes,
without exception, 40 min prior to departure according to
the timetable. This means that if the plane is delayed, you
still have to check in at the latest 40 minutes before the original
departure time!
If a flight is cancelled, when will I find out? Can
I call?
Flights can be cancelled for different reasons, e.g., technical
problems or extreme weather conditions. Such events cannot be
foreseen, but the rule is to always go to the airport and
await information there. Decisions on whether or not to fly can be
taken at short notice. There is therefore not usually any point in
calling or emailing us. The companies do not normally give any
compensation for flights that are delayed or cancelled for reasons
beyond their control.
It
may therefore be advisable to take out suitable private travel
insurance to cover such circumstances. Insurance is often included
when purchasing travel by credit card, or it may be covered by home
insurance.
Are there buses in connection with arriving and
departing flights?
Yes, the flight bus operates according to the airlines’ timetables
between the airport and the Nils Ericson Terminal by the Central
Station in the centre of Göteborg. The exit at the NE Terminal is
usually number 29, though this can change so always check the signs.
The journey takes approx 25 min and costs SEK 60. Read more here:

Is there long-term parking, can it be pre-booked and
is it covered by surveillance?
There are approx 1200 chargeable parking spaces in total. The
long-term car park is enclosed and has gates that are locked at
night. There is also camera surveillance. Unfortunately, we cannot
take advance bookings. Parking costs SEK 70/day or part thereof
(long-term) or SEK 10/hour (short-term).
NB The long-term car park is locked daily at 9:45 pm and reopens
at 6:15 am. During this time, it is not possible to get your
car!
Does the airport have disabled parking? And
what if I need assistance?
There are a small number
of parking spaces reserved for cars with a disability permit at the
western long-term car park (V1).
The spaces are directly on the left after entering the gate/barrier.
The cost is the same for everyone, SEK 70 per day or part thereof.
There are also disabled parking spaces in the short-term car park.
The parking spaces cannot be booked in advance.
If you are in need of assistance in connection with your flight,
notify the airline when you book your trip. We will then receive
information from the airline. If you have any questions about this
please contact us. You can also read more at the
LFV site
Can I change money at the airport? Is there a cash
machine?
There is a
cash machine (ATM) on the outside, left end of the terminal.
Here you will be
able to cash Swedish money, but also Euro and Pounds (GBP).
Do I need a passport to travel to London?
Yes, Ryanair recommends that you always take your passport when you
travel with them, and it is needed when checking in.
My passport has expired and I haven’t got time to
get a new one before my departure from the airport. What should I
do?
You must obtain a provisional passport, which is only valid for the
journey concerned. It is issued by the police.
How much baggage can I take on the flight?
That varies between different airlines. Check on their homepages.
For Ryanair, see
here >>
Where can I read more about the airlines’ terms and
conditions before the trip?
At
www.ryanair.se
there is a big section on travel questions that answers most
things. Similarly, you can study the conditions of travel for
Wizz Air on their homepage.
Are there taxis and can I hire a car at the
airport.
Of
course, two taxi companies serve the airport and there are three
hire car companies here. Read more on the page “For the traveller”
>>.
Is there a restaurant at the airport?
Our restaurant serves “today's special” lunch, sandwiches and a
variety of light dishes. Read more here >>
Are there shops?
There are two shops in the departure lounge. They sell film,
cosmetics, chocolate, travel accessories, Swedish delicacies, etc.
Before the security control (near the restaurant) there is a kiosk
“Airport Shop” that sells newspapers, sweets, cold drinks and lots
more. Read more here >>
I would like you to start an air route to
destination X!
The airport does not decide the routes at City Airport; that is done
by our customers, the airlines. If there is sufficient interest and
thereby a basis for a service to a certain destination, the airlines
contact us and negotiate the terms of a new route. These include
planes not making too much noise and being of the right size. If you
would like a particular destination from City Airport, please
contact the airlines directly.
My baggage was damaged on my last trip.
Can I claim compensation?
Firstly all damage must be reported to the staff at the airport
directly on arrival. The airlines’ rules for damaged baggage then
apply. See their homepages. In some cases your home insurance or
travel insurance, if you have one, may provide some cover.
I would like to go on a flight (sightseeing) over
the West Coast.
Does the airport arrange such flights?
No, we do not. But there are companies at the airport that operate
sightseeing flights, aerial photography, etc. Go
here
and contact, for example, the flying clubs for more
information.
I forgot my valuables at the airport!
Valuables (wallet, cell phone, etc) can be picked up against
description at the airport during business hours, weekdays at 9-16.
I have remarried and changed my name. Which name
should I book in?
The name in which you book your ticket must be the same as the name
in your passport.
Is there anything that can help ear pain when I
fly?
Yes, there are special earplugs that alleviate discomfort. These are
available to buy from the Airport Shop at the airport. Read more at
